After years of learning and enjoyment at the piano, Camille Nelson fulfilled a lifelong dream to become a teacher herself and pass on her love and constant amazement for music!
After a year spent in Germany, Camille returned home to attend the New Zealand School of Music, where she gained a BMus (Musicology) and a GDipMus (Music Therapy). Alongside this she continued studies in piano and achieved ATCL in Piano Performance. After university, she became an associate member of the NZ Institute of Registered Music Teachers (IRMT), where she is also Secretary of the Wellington Branch.
Camille has a wide and varied musical background. Not only does she enjoy the classical music she was taught as a student herself, but has enjoyed exploring everything from pop to heavy metal (although, attempts to learn the guitar largely failed). She ventured briefly into the world of Music Therapy, so has built up a substantial amount of experience working with children who have special intellectual and physical needs.
Currently she is learning jazz piano to brush up on some skills, as well as learning the ropes of piano building while watching her 1830’s square grand piano be restored to its former glory.
